The legitimation card is issued by the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) to staff of international organisations and foreign representations, and to their families. It replaces the residence permit. Spouses and children (up to 25) who want to work also apply for a Ci permit. Years spent on a legitimation card count towards naturalisation.
