EU/EFTA nationals
An EU/EFTA national without paid work is entitled to an EU/EFTA B permit for non-working people if they show sufficient financial means (so as not to rely on social assistance) and health and accident insurance covering all risks.
Third-country nationals
The Act allows third-country retirees to be admitted if they have reached the minimum age set by the Federal Council (55 under the OASA), have special personal ties to Switzerland and the necessary financial means. They do not work, in Switzerland or abroad.
Processing times in Geneva
The OCPM publishes an average of 3 months for other permits without employment for an EU national and 8 months for a non-European national.
